Amesbury, MA — Sophie Orne passed away peacefully on Thursday at her home with her family at her side. She was the wife of 57 years to Robert E. Orne. She was born in Chelsea, MA and was the daughter of the late John and Constance (Passariello) Stec.
She was born and raised in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. She volunteered her time to help special needs children in the Chelsea school system. She had once worked at Schraff's Candy of Charlestown, later working at Towle Silversmiths of Newburyport. She and her husband made the move from the city to Amesbury and had resided with her daughter and son-in-law for the last 20 years. She will be sadly missed by her family.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Theresa Day and husband, Earl, of Amesbury; 5 sons, Robert Orne of Wareham, MA, Kenneth Orne and wife, Nancy, of Revere, MA, Daniel Orne and wife, Cheryl, of Lynfield, MA, Thomas Orne and wife, Lisa, of Chambersburg, PA, and John Orne and wife, Pamela, of Burlington, MA; two brothers, William Stec and wife, Janet, of Lynn, MA and John Stec of Florida; 3 sisters, Connie and Rosemarie Stec, both of Wakefield, MA and Theresa Moore of Chelsea, MA; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St. in Amesbury. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours and donations in her name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 9 Sparhawk St., Amesbury, MA 01913. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
