Newburyport — Judith E. “Judy” Kirkland, 72, of Newburyport, died peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2013 after a long fight with Crohn’s disease.
She was born in Lawrence, Sept. 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Edwin and Ethel (Patterson) Covell.
Judy was a longtime resident of both Hampton, N.H., and Andover. She was an avid reader and sports fan of not only the Red Sox and Patriots, but of her grandchildren as well. She was known for her smile and eternally positive outlook.
Family members include her children, Doug Kirkland and his wife, Linda; David Kirkland; Jennifer Carrington and her husband, LaJace; and Stephen Kirkland and his wife, Chellis; her grandchildren, Christopher and Peter Kirkland, Amanda, Alana, Taylor, Lillian and Evelyn Carrington and Ellie and Jack Kirkland; her brother Dan Covell and his wife, Kay, and her sister, Nancy Horan.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Roger Kirkland, her son Phillip Kirkland, her granddaughter Tabatha Kirkland and her brother-in-law Paul Horan.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m.. on Thursday, March 21, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home – Crematory, 811 Lafayette Roa, Hampton, N.H. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. following the service in West Parish Cemetery, Reservation Roa, Andover.
