Amesbury — Richard L. Burke of Newburyport passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from complications following surgery. His wife Judy and children, Katie and Richie, were by his side. Rich was born on October 3, 1953 in Lexington, son of Robert L. Burke and the late Carolyn S. Burke. He was a 1972 graduate of Lexington High School, and 1976 graduate of Westfield State College. He was employed by E.I. Dupont for over 28 years as the North American Sales Manager-OEM Ink and was currently with Avery-Dennison as a Distribution Sales Manager in Graphics and Reflective Solutions.
Rich loved his family first and foremost. In his youth, he enjoyed spending summers on Lake Winnipesaukee. He continued this love of the water with years of boating on the Parker and Merrimack Rivers. Rich was also a tremendous athlete, which filtered down to his children. He raised his family in Newburyport and has many friends here and across the country. He cherished the days he spent cheering his kids on from the sidelines. He also coached youth basketball and baseball teams in Newburyport. He will be dearly missed.
Rich is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judith Curley Burke; his daughter, Kaitlin A. Burke; his son, Richard L. Burke Jr.; his father, Robert L. Burke and his sisters, Janice Williams of Lexington and Tizzy Burke of Tuftonboro, N.H. He was predeceased by his mother Carolyn and his brother Lance. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Kathy Salmonson and Joanne Harrison of Newburyport, Jayne Curley Kowa of Knoxville, Tenn. and brother-in-law Eddie Curley of Newburyport and eight nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Newburyport. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 at the Twomey-LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport.
