Newbury, MA — Jerilyn "Cynthia" (Jackman) Dennis, 71, of Newbury, married to her soul mate, Herbert James Dennis, passed away September 10, 2013. She was born in Newburyport on July 27, 1942, to Fred and Gertrude Jackman. Known as Cynthia, she attended Essex Aggie, her major was animal husbandry. Cynthia worked on the family dairy farm and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. On December 1, 1961, she was married to her dedicated husband of 52 years.
Cynthia lived life to the fullest. She made people smile when she couldn't smile herself. With her sense of humor her smile was contagious. The self-sacrifices she made for so many people during her lifetime were limitless. She spent her life in the service of others. She loved to ride and train horses and shared that with her family. For many years she was a member of the Newbury Council of Aging. Whether volunteering in a school classroom, reading books, sharing her rock and fossil collection or providing luncheons to the elderly, she made a habit of helping people in need.
Some of her passions were reading, flower gardening, sharing her family ancestry, and using her self taught guitar skills to bring family and friends together. Her talents and interests were endless. There wasn't a thing that she couldn't turn her hand to.
All who knew Cynthia "Gram" knew her doors were always open. She was amorous and nurturing. She regularly hosted family celebrations; making everyone feel like they were part of her family.
A special thank you to all the staff and friends at Brigham Manor for making her feel at home and for the outstanding care she received during her stay there.
Of all the lessons Cynthia "Gram" taught, the importance of family was her most admired achievement. It was an honor and privilege to have her as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and friend. A one of a kind lady, she was true and blue.
