Rowley, MA — Elizabeth Gynan Brown, 93, of Rowley, formerly of Seabrook, N.H., died on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Seaview Retreat in Rowley, where she has been a resident since 2006.
She was born in Seabrook on June 9, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Maggie May (Janvrin) Gynan.
Elizabeth graduated from Amesbury High School, Class of 1938, and later worked for the former Barr & Bloomfield Shoe Co. for several years. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed painting and drawing. She wrote poetry her entire life and even had some of her work published in the local newspapers. Many of her letters and short stories reminiscing of earlier times in the seacoast area were also published. She was a beautiful, talented and loving woman, and family brought her the greatest joy.
Family members include her two daughters, Gloria Peel of Seabrook, and Melanie Lamprey and her husband, William, of Westford, Mass.; her 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was the wife of Charles Eaton, who died in 1945, and James R.W. L. Brown, who died in 1988. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Joella May Eaton; her brother, Nicholas Gynan; and her son-in-law, Louis Peel Sr.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., on Wednesday, November 20, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, N.H. Services will be at 11 a.m., following visitation in the funeral home. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
