Barbara A. (DelRoss) Cordeiro

Amesbury, MA — Barbara A. (DelRoss) Cordeiro, 77, died peacefully at her home in Amesbury, on Friday morning, January 31, 2014, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born in Newport, R.I., in 1936, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Passarelli) DelRoss. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1955, and had lived in Newport until moving to Amesbury in 1974.

Barbara loved the summer season, but hated the winter cold. During the good weather, you could find her either in her garden, or at Hampton Beach soaking up the sun. She also enjoyed cooking and serving up family recipes passed down over the generations, especially for the holiday gatherings. Being very outgoing, everywhere she went everyone knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Paul. Married for 53 years, they have been to world’s end and back together. She is also survived by two daughters, Sue and husband, Peter Starbird, and Donna and husband, Russ Willard; her four precious grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua, Jessica, and Mason; along with several siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

They will all fondly remember the special memories she has left them to share and treasure throughout their life.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in Celebration of Her Life, on Saturday, February 8, at 1 p.m., at the Merrimacport United Methodist Church, corner of 39 High Street and River Road. By request of the family, there will be no visiting hours, and burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
