Merrimac, MA — Dorothy (Coolidge) Allicon, 87, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013 at Maplewood Care & Rehab Center in Amesbury.
Dorothy was born in Cambridge on March 1, 1925, to Milton and Laura (Paré) Coolidge. When she was a young child, the family moved to Andover, where she attended school and graduated from Punchard High School, Class of 1943.
Dorothy was married to Walter Allicon and they lived in Lawrence where they raised their family. The family spent many summers at their beach cottage in North Hampton Beach, NH where they shared many happy memories. Later in life many weekends at the beach were spent with her five grandchildren who grew up sharing her love of the beach. They would all take long walks on the beach searching for sea glass, shells and baby crabs that they would collect in their pails. As a result she had an extensive collection of sea glass at the cottage.
Dorothy worked for many years at Western Electric and retired in 1975. She loved to travel with her good friends Eileen Currier and Marilyn Bergeron. After her retirement she volunteered at the Merrimac Senior Center and through her involvement there, she also enjoyed many trips with the new friends she met at the Center. She enjoyed sewing and made quilts for each of her grandchildren. Everyone in the family would get a special hand-made Christmas ornament each year.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce and her husband Donald Gariepy; her daughter, Linda, and her husband Philip Sansone; her grandchildren, Michael and wife Liliana Gariepy; Daniel Gariepy, Karen Gariepy, Elisabeth and husband Jacy Orms, and Allison and her husband Nathan Ray. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Hunter Wunderlich, Caiden Orms, Ryan Orms and Caroline Gariepy, along with many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1969, and her sisters, Margaret Sheerin and Evelyn Russell.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass at the Holy Redeemer Church in Merrimac to celebrate her life on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be private at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.
