Salisbury — Cecile Hamel, of Toll Rd., passed away Sunday evening at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport after a brief illness. She was born in Manchester, N.H. and was the daughter of the late Robert and Eva (Larochelle) Lanseigne. She was the wife of the late Irving C. Hamel whom she married in 1947 and passed away in 1981.
She attended and graduated from the Sacred Heart School in Amesbury. She went on to work at Merrimac Hat Co. of Amesbury and later at CBS Hytron in Newburyport. From 1957-1984, she had a lengthy career at Western Electric/Lucent until her retirement. She enjoyed camping, gardening, crocheting, and 1000 piece puzzles. She also spent many years caring for her grandchildren and enjoyed playing board games with them.
She is survived by her sons, Roland J. Hamel and his wife, Jeanne and Richard R. Hamel and his wife, Darleen, her daughter, Marianne Dall and her husband, Joel; her grandchildren, David Hamel, Wendy Hamel, Richard Hamel Jr. and wife, Ann Marie, Aimee (Ploski) Harriott and husband, Adam, Justin Ploski and wife, Kellie, Melissa (Hamel) Brown and husband, Curtis, Stephanie Dall and Joel Dall III. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Trent, Parker, and Sawyer Harriott, Avery LaBua and Sophia Dall.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 13, from 6-7 p.m. at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend St. in Amesbury followed by a remembrance at 7 p.m. Burial will be on Friday at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Newburyport. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
