Byfield, MA — Margaret A. “Peggy” (McLaughlin) Deardon, age 71, of Byfield, died Friday morning, December 14, 2012 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Born in Lynn, March 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Theresa (O’Brien) McLaughlin and was a graduate of Lynn English High School and Chaffey Junior College in California.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 50 years, Edward A. Deardon of Byfield; three children, Brian E. Deardon; Karen Tocci and husband Michael and Scott R. Deardon and wife Leah; four grandchildren, who she adored completely, Shannon Elizabeth Tocci, Robert Michael Tocci, Mariah Ann Deardon and Ashley Marie Deardon; her four siblings, John McLaughlin, Francis McLaughlin, Karen Collins and Robert McLaughlin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Peggy especially enjoyed being a grandmother, playing bridge with her friends, bowling and traveling. Peggy lived her life with a smile on her face and with a positive attitude despite the many obstacles thrown at her from Celiac, dialysis, and lung cancer. All who knew her will treasure the special memories of her life well lived — the examples she set, the love she gave, her words of wisdom, her dedication to the needs of others — her legacy will live on forever.
