Newburyport, MA — “Although you have passed, your spirit is with me forever.”
Dennis Michael Torris was born on June 28, 1949, in Lynn, Mass. His passing on Saturday, September 14, 2013, has left his family and many friends in great sorrow. A Vietnam veteran, Dennis dedicated his life to helping others with their struggles in drug and alcohol addictions. There are many who are grateful to him for his encouragement and determination in showing them a fuller and richer way of life. His sincerity, kindness, courage, trust and wisdom became the lessons he shared. Sadly, there was a day, an hour, and a minute when Dennis forgot what he knew best and he lost his way . . . and his life.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Debra Nelson Torris, and her niece, Clarissa Locke, both of Newburyport, his daughter, Jennifer Torris of Lynn, his Mother, Barbara Fielding of Standish, Maine, three sisters, Patricia Cogswell-Key of Jacksonville, N.H., Kathy Faucett of Brabenton, Fla., and Susan Carone of Loudon, N.H., as well as many nieces and nephews who Dennis loved very much.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Dennis’s memory to “The Interim House.”
