Seabrook, NH — Yarmilla “Millie” (Yurkovich) Defazio, age 83, longtime resident of Seabrook Beach, New Hampshire, died suddenly at Exeter on Hampton Rehabilitation and Care Center in Exeter, N.H. on Monday morning, September 23, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis D. Defazio, who died December 14, 2012.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was one of three daughters of the late Stephen and Pauline (Borcovan) Yurkovich and was a graduate of the former Merrimac High School.
Throughout her life, Millie was passionate about music and dance. In addition to being an accomplished pianist, she was a dance instructor and performer with a variety of amateur groups throughout the area. An exquisite cook and hostess, Millie enjoyed preparing sumptuous meals for her friends and family members. The Defazio home on Seabrook Beach was the setting for many lively social gatherings throughout the years.
Millie was also known for her sensitivity and generosity to those who were suffering from illness or adversity. She is fondly remembered by those who loved her for the care, support and joy she brought into so many lives.
Predeceased by her two sisters, Anne C. Sivik and Violet Yurkovich, Millie leaves behind her nieces who were so dear to her, Mary Anne Marshall of Manchester, N.H., Juanita Violet Sivik of Sarasota, Fla., Stephanie Anne Mastro of Manchester, N.H., and Paula Raymond of Peterborough, N.H.; her grand-nephew, Marcel J. Raymond of Greenfield, N.H.; along with dear friends, Dana and Anita Junkins of Kittery, Maine, and Richard Cormier and wife, Candy, of Seabrook, N.H.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, Mass., will be Thursday, September 26, 2013, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Crotched Mountain Foundation, 1 Verney Drive, Greenfield, NH 03047.
