Sarasota, FL — Richard F. Rooney, 78, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly Salisbury, passed away on September 25. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth; three daughters, and two grandchildren, Paula Nasiatka, husband, Jeff, and their daughter, Ellie, of Tucson, Ariz., Carole Rooney and husband, John Fischer of Roseville, Calif., Alison Rooney of Merchantville, N.J., and grandson, Stephen Kelley of Chico, Calif. He was a former executive at Sanders Associates in Nashua, N.H., and later. at The Lockheed Corporation. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. An avid runner, marathoner, and triathlete, he also enjoyed cycling and hiking. Spending time with family, reading, writing, and following Boston sports teams — especially the Red Sox — were his most valued pastimes.
