Suzanne Kilborn, 56

South Hampton, NH — Suzanne (Pierce) Kilborn, 56, of South Hampton, NH, passed away suddenly on October 23, 2013, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA.

Sue was born in Taunton, MA on May 31, 1957, to Beatrice and Bernie Pierce.

She was a founder and co-owner of Boatwise Marine Training.

Prior to starting Boatwise with her husband, Rick, in 1990, Sue was employed at Wang Laboratories and several other large corporations. Sue was a USCG Licensed Captain who provided formal marine training to thousands of boaters throughout New England. She was instrumental in establishing new educational methods to enhance safety on the water. So many people are indebted to Sue as she helped them get their captains licenses and achieve their own life - long dream of having a marine related business. Because of her caring ways Sue touched many lives on and off the water. Sue also loved fishing and was a superb cook and avid gardener. A perfect day for Sue was spending the day fishing on the boat with her grandkids.

She was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, MA & R.I. Marine Trades Associations, and the Marine Educators Council. Sue was a 1980 graduate of U Mass Amherst.

Sue is survived by her beloved husband, Rick Kilborn of 35 years; her mother, Bea and stepfather, Omer Sponcey of Thompson, CT; her stepson, Dean Kilborn and his wife, Ann Marie. Sue is also survived by her three grandchildren, Amelia, Brianna, and Brandon. Also among her survivors are her sisters, Brenda Stone and her husband, Paul, of Amesbury, MA, Liz Fuller of North Carolina, Laura Auger of Putnam, CT, and Bill Pierce of Putnam, CT, and several nieces and nephews.
