Salisbury, MA — Virginia A. (Whittredge) Capolupo, 77, longtime Salisbury resident, passed peacefully Thursday afternoon, November 7, 2013, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Boston, February 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edgar S. and Anna (Hanson) Whittredge and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School in Boston.
A wonderful mother and a role model for human decency and strength of character, she never flinched in overcoming extraordinary adversity. Unabashedly devoted to her children and grandchildren, she put their interests above her own throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking for them and always looked forward to the big family dinners on Sundays. Her family was the center of her life, they were her inspiration, her joy and the greatest love she could ever imagine.
She leaves behind her four sons, Steven M. Capolupo and wife Kristen of Newbury; Philip J. Capolupo and wife Nikki of Byfield; Wayne P. Capolupo of Salisbury and Richard E. Capolupo and wife Carla of Newbury; her daughter, Karen J. Chandler of Salisbury; her brother, Roy Whittredge and wife Geraldine of Hollis, NH; along with her fourteen grandchildren, Taylor Capolupo, Ross Capolupo, Chelsey Capolupo, Ryan Capolupo, Erica Capolupo, Melanie Capolupo, Daniel Chandler, Joseph Chandler, Kimberly Chandler, Kelly Chandler, Carlyn Capolupo, Philip Shea Capolupo, Aimee Azevedo and Luke Azevedo; her niece, Kristina Flaherty and husband Patrick and their son Dylan of Winchester; her nephew, Steven Whittredge and wife Abby and their son, Axel, of Topsfield, and daughter-in-law, Mary Capolupo. She also leaves behind many Hanson cousins, in particular, Patsy (Sunnerburg) Callanan, with whom she remained extremely close throughout her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard S. Capolupo and her daughter, Kimberly Capolupo.
The gift of her life, and the love and joy she brought to everyone will forever be treasured by her family and friends.
