Donald Porter Stickles


Newburyport, MA — Donald Porter Stickles, longtime Newburyport resident, died at his home on March 22, 2014, just two days after his 71st birthday.

Born in Springfield, Mass., on March 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Oscar S. and Eva (Porter) Stickles.

A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Donald served with the United States Navy from July 18, 1963, until his honorable discharge on April 3, 1967.

A master carpenter, Donald worked in construction throughout his life and had been a resident of the Newburyport area for the past 20 years.

Don was a hard working, caring individual. He was always ready to help with whatever needed to be done, whether help with a project, or help financially, you could always count on him.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine Carrsyn Bougard and her husband, James, of Hollywood, Fla.; along with many dear friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Madelyn, also of Hollywood.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 16, at 1 p.m., at Old Hill Cemetery, intersection of Pond and Auburn streets, Newburyport. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hope Community Church, 11 Hale Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
