Gloria F. (Joseph) Teller, 86


Peabody — Gloria F. (Joseph) Teller, 86, of Peabody, formerly of Malden, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2014 at the Essex Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly. She was the beloved wife of the late David Teller. Born in Malden, she was a graduate of Malden High School. Gloria was the dear daughter of the late Samuel and Bertha (Jacobs) Joseph. She began her singing career and veteran’s service while growing up in Malden during WW II at the age of 15; she entertained at army camps with the USO singing the national anthem and continued her singing career locally and nationally until her passing.

Mrs. Teller joined the local membership of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans 50 years ago in Peabody. She served in a variety of positions beginning at the local, then the state and then onto the national level, where she worked alongside President Bill Clinton’s administration as the president of the ladies auxiliary. Gloria traveled all across the country speaking and working for the veterans. Gloria also worked patterning for children with special needs and was an active member of the American Red Cross.

Gloria loved spending time with her children and was a loving and devoted grandmother.

Surviving her are two daughters, Robin Decker and her husband, David of Reading and Julie Jayne and her husband, Chris of Merrimac; three cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremy Jayne and Charlie Decker.

ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St., Salem, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. All are invited to visit with the family prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment at Temple Beth Shalom Memorial Park, Danvers. Memorial observance following the interment until 8 p.m. at the home of Robin and David Decker. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s name may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O.
