Newburyport, MA — Michael L. Rowinski, 57, of Newburyport, died on Monday, January 13, 2014, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving wife, Gail (Noyes) Rowinski, and family.
Born in Haverhill on September 3, 1956, he was the son of the late Joseph and Shirley (Lemieux) Rowinski. He attended NECCO and received his bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University in Iowa. Michael was a behavior specialist for the Greater Lawrence Educational Collaborative.
An avid sports fan, Michael was a basketball coach for many years at Georgetown High School, and a basketball and baseball coach at NECCO. He was also a member of the Old Newbury Country Club and was the director of a summer camp in Haverhill.
In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by daughters Jennifer Stott of Methuen, and Emily Sullivan and husband, Matthew, of Medford; son, David Willmer and wife, Laura, of Amesbury; brother, Thomas Rowinski and wife, Susan, of Bradford; sisters, Joanne Franzen and husband, Jules “Buzz,” of Salem, N.H., Pamela Tufts and husband Daniel of Bradford, and Cathy Post of Kingston, N.H.; grandchildren, Mia and Brandon Willmer; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, including Peter Lucia of Haverhill, and Michael Grady of Newburyport.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, will be on Thursday, January 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service at the funeral home will be held on Friday, at 12 p.m., followed by burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport.
