Edna Marie (LeBlanc) Vedrani, age 97, longtime Amesbury resident, died Wednesday evening at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Vedrani, who died January 24, 1999.
Born in Amesbury, August 4, 1914, she was one of four children of the late Albert and Amelia (Cote) LeBlanc and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, class of 1931.
For many years Edna was the receptionist and secretary at the former Amesbury Specialty Inc.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church and was a member of the St. Ann Sodality of the Church.
Her survivors include her four sons, Wayne M. Vedrani and wife Elizabeth of Mt. Dora, FL; John A. Vedrani and wife Judith of East Kingston, NH, and Naples, Florida; Joel A. Vedrani and fiancee Deborah Sharkey of Seabrook, NH; and Michael G. Vedrani of Lady Lake, FL; her grandchildren, Kimberly Newbold and husband Jamie of San Diego, CA; Lisa Pearson and husband David of Salisbury; and Jason Storey and wife, Leslie of Georgetown, MA; her great-grandchidlren, Zachary and Alexis Pearson of Salisbury and Cameron Sewall of Gloucester; along with several generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Scott Vedrani, sister, Stella Barlow and brothers, Albert and Arthur LeBlanc.
Her love of family, love of animals, especially cats, and her love of life will forever fill the hearts of those who remember her with such fondness.
For many summers during the 1950s and 1960s, Edna would knit mittens and booties for American Indian children in South Dakota and Montana.
Because of her love of arts and crafts, she created many afghans, collages and decoupage. She had many grateful recipients of these gifts for Christmas and special occasions.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at Port Rehab for the excellent care and love they gave her for the past four years.
