Arthur M. Colby Jr., 75

York, Maine — Formerly of Newburyport, Arthur “Skip” M. Colby, Jr., 75, died Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born in Newburyport, on Dec. 15, 1936, the son of Arthur M. Colby, Sr. and Margaret E. (Teague) Colby.

Skip served his country in the U.S. Air Force and spent his career working as an electrical engineer and draftsman. He loved camping, fishing, bowling, playing cribbage, gardening, spending time with friends and volunteering at the Senior Center in York and the Little League of Newburyport. Skip was also a handyman of many trades having been known as McGuyver. He was actively involved in Veteran’s affairs, a member of the American Legion, the Masons and the Moose Lodge in Portsmouth, N.H.

Skip leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Janis M. Marshall-Colby; four sons, Tod A. Colby, and his wife, Debbie, of Fort Myers, FL, Duncan A. Colby, and his wife, Linda, of Amesbury, Jeremy T. Colby of Portsmouth, N.H. and F. Jefferey Marshall of Eliot, Maine; two daughters, Kelly J. Colby-Seavey and her husband, Bill, of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Christy L. Baker-Eble and her husband, Tom, of Frisco, CO; a brother, William Colby and his wife, Joyce, of Newburyport, two sisters, Brenda Anderson and her husband, Andy, of Seabrook, N.H., and Donna Maestas and her husband, Paul of Broomfield, CO; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends; four cats, McGuyver, Shilo, Giabella, and Michelina. He is predeceased by two sons, Arthur “Kip” M. Colby, III and F. Joshua Marshall and a daughter, Paula Colby.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14th at St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine. Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Cemetery, Newburyport.
