Betty J. Hume


AMESBURY — Betty J. (Doane) Hume of Amesbury died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, George Hume, in 1999.

Born in Portland, Maine on Feb. 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mildred E. (Vose) Doane.

Betty leaves a legacy of love, survived by her six daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Wayne Paul of Newton, N.H., Mary (Vicki) Webb of Rye, N.H., Michelle and John Lewis of Wallingford, Pa., Bonnijo and Pudgy Kitchin, Joellen and John Pelletier and Julie ad Marc Deschenes, all of Amesbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Starr Hume of Kingston, N.H., Mark and Karen Hume of Newbury; 23 grandchildren, Lori, Christine, Ian, Tish, Kraig, Erin, Rich, Kerri, Shannon, Tara, Kevin, Adam, Seth, Elyse, Brie, Danielle, Sydney, Renee, Alison, Sarah, Rachel, Gaetan and Jessie and 23 great-grandchildren, Ricki, Kelley, Ben, Jamie, Ethan, Owen, Noah, Abby, Dana, Michaela, Mackenzie, Zachary, Jacob, Nicholas, Carson, Kennedy, Cali, Toby, Tyler, Nicolai, Logan, Lily and Mae; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Joseph Hume, Bernard and Dorothy Hume, Richard and Fran Hume; several well loved nieces, nephews and dear friends. Yes, she did know all of their birthdays!

She was predeceased by her brother, William Doane; her sister, Helen (Doane) Fuller; and son-in-law, Richard Webb.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours are Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with service immediately following at EV Jutras Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury.
