Sanford, ME — Marie Mildred (Trudeau) Burke was born in Portsmouth N.H., and raised by Alexander and Evelina Trudeau in Amesbury, Mass. Her birth mother was Rolande Cote of Cape Chat, Gaspe, Canada.
She passed peacefully at the age of 86, on Saturday afternoon April 12, 2014, in Sanford, Maine, of natural causes.
Marie attended Amesbury High School, Class of 1945. She attended Northeastern University. She was a translator, caregiver and mother of seven.
Marie enjoyed family, friends, music, and talking. She also enjoyed the ocean, her animals, gardening, needlework, and lobsters. Marie especially enjoyed playing piano with her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Burke Sr.; and son, David A. Burke.
She is survived by her six children; son, John, daughter, Anne and husband, Dan, son, Paul, son, Mark and wife, Patricia, daughter, Jean, and son, Brian and wife, Angela. Marie is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all those that have taken care of Marie at the Greenwood Center, with a special thanks to hospice.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held at the E. V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, Mass., on Wednesday, April 16, from 5 to 7 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
