Wallingford, CT — Arthur “Art” B. Myers, 77, of Wallingford, Conn., passed away peacefully on April 10, 2014, at Masonicare. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Miller).
Mr. Myers was born on January 10, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the son of the late Samuel and Gertrude (Cohen) Myers. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyne.
He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the City University of New York, and a master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. He retired from AlliedSignal in Phoenix, Ariz., after a 38-year career that included many years as a performance test manager for Textron Lycoming.
He raised his family in Bridgeport, Conn., and Naugatuck, Conn., where he was involved in the Union City Little League and the Boy Scouts of America. While living in Williamsport, Pa., he and his wife served as foster parents. In 2005, he was recognized with the Joslin Diabetes Center (Boston) bronze medal for living as an insulin-dependent diabetic for 50 years.
He is survived by three sons, Glenn Myers of Amesbury, Mass., Paul Myers and his husband, David Baron of Boulder, Colo., and Jason Myers and his wife, Cheryl, of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Griffin, Matthew, Leah, Joshua, Cassandra, and Jason Jr.

ARRANGEMENTS: A gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday, April 18, at 11 a.m., at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven, Conn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
