Salisbury — Eleanor Maroney, 98, of Salisbury, Mass., died on December 7, 2013, at the Windham Terrace in Windham, N.H. She was born in Haverhill, Mass., to the late Arthur and Catherine (Rice) Murphy.
Eleanor graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1933. She was employed as a manager for many years with the Clear Weave Store in Haverhill. She opened and managed the Clear Weave Store in Newburyport, was New England district manager in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and retired from King's department stores. For 26 years, Eleanor volunteered at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Eleanor loved to travel and play bingo and pokeno.
She was married to the late Joseph Maroney, and her survivors include her daughter, Barbara and her husband Edward Granger Jr. of North Hampton, N.H.; grandchildren, Edward Granger III, Larry Granger, Susan Granger Dunham, and Steven Granger; great-grandchildren, Alicia Pelletier and Stephanie Dunham; great-great-grandchild, Noah Dunham; nieces, Kathleen Compagnone and Jean Gautreau; and great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Conte, Twomey and LeBlanc Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., in the Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Salisbury, Mass. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
