Haverhill, Ma — Diane Elaine (Brouillard) Collette of Plum Island, Newburyport, passed away peacefully early on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2013, at the Merrimac Valley Hospice in Haverhill, Mass., after a brief illness of only three weeks. At her side at the time of her passing was her daughter, Rebecca, who helped Diane make the passage into the arms of Jesus and our heavenly father. Diane spent the last few days of her life on earth surrounded by family and loving family and friends praying and loving her.
She was born at the Lowell General Hospital on October 26,1950, the fifth child of Joseph E, Brouillard and Phoebe (Cram) Brouillard. She is survived by her brother Alan, and life partner, Doug Dowie; her two sons, Jay Dowling of Atkinson N.H.,and Robert A. Dowling of North Conway N.H.; her daughter, Rebecca and husband, David, Routhier of Haverhill, Mass.; her beloved granddaughter, Natasha Harwood, who made her life with Diane and Doug on Plum Island; and also two very dear and special friends, Mike Gauthier of Salisbury Beach, Mass., and Bruce Goodwin of North Conway, N.H.
She moved to Plum Island in 1977 with her young family and operated a commercial fishing boat, the Phoebe II, for many years. She next worked at Market Basket in Seabrook for several years. She next went on to be manger of Brownies Motel, owned and operated by her son, Rob and his partner. Upon retirement, Diane started the next chapter in her life. Diane and Doug became foster parents and took in dozens of foster children, giving all their love and guidance. The loss of beloved Diane will be felt by all of the children, and especially Doug, Rob, Bruce, Rebecca, and husband, David, and by her beloved relatives
ARRANGEMENTS: By Diane’s request, there will be no services and she will be scattered where she has requested.
