James P. Nestor, 80


Amesbury, MA — Mr. James P. Nestor, 80, of Amesbury died Monday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband to Judith A. (Hossack) Nestor with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Jim was born in Lynn, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Murray) Nestor. Jim was a resident of Lynn for most of his life before moving to Amesbury in 1992. He attended St. Mary’s School and Lynn Classical High School.

He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Jim worked for the US Postal Service, he started his career as a Letter Carrier and worked in Swampscott, Nahant, Saugus and Lynn. He then became a Clerk and managed the East Lynn Post Office. Jim retired in 1989 after 30 years of service. After retiring Jim worked at US Gas in Salem, NH, retiring in 2012 due to ill health.

He was a former member of Post 507. Jim was an avid traveler he enjoyed going on cruises with his family and friends and also enjoyed the time he spent in Hawaii and Myrtle Beach. Jim also enjoyed golfing and gardening.

In addition to his wife Judy Jim is survived by his brother Hugh F. Nestor and his wife Sheila of Lynn. His adored sister in law Kristina Hossack of Amesbury with whom he made his home. His brother in law Robert Hossack and his wife Lorna of Newburyport. His sister in laws Loretta Nestor of Lynn and Josephine Nestor of Malden. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and Jim’s best girlfriend and loyal friend his dog Gracie.

He was the brother of the late Attorney John Nestor, Patrick Nestor and Thomas Nestor.

ARRANGEMENTS: Jim’s Funeral will be from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn, Friday at 9 AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 3-7 PM. Gifts in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923.
