Mary A. (Colella) Larcome

Methuen — Mary A. (Colella) Larcome, age 66, of Methuen, died unexpectedly at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida on Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2013.

Born in Haverhill, March 31, 1946, she was one of four children of the late Joseph A. and Mary H. (Legacy) Colella and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1964. Mary went on to graduate from Lowell University and Fitchburg State with a Master’s in Education. For 39 years, Mary taught at the Haverhill School System, beloved by the many children in whose lives she made a difference. During her teaching years, she was involved with the People To People program, traveling the world with her young students.

A fabulous grandmother, she especially enjoyed all the time she spent with her grandchildren, who enriched her life beyond words. Mary possessed an ability to make people feel at ease with her winning smile and caring ways — she was a friend to everyone she met.

In addition to her beloved husband of 42 years, Robert J. Larcome of Methuen, she is survived by her two sons, Christopher Larcome of Atkinson, NH and Jeffrey Larcome and wife Kara of Methuen; her three grandchildren, Jack and Sam Larcome of Atkinson, NH and Zoe Larcome of Methuen; her two brothers, Jerry Colella and wife Joyce of Seabrook, NH; Joseph Colella and wife Kathy of Haverhill; her two sisters, Sharon Joyce and husband John of Hampstead, NH and Carol Raymond and husband Gerard of Alexandria, NH; her brother-in-law, Jay R. Larcome of Newburyport and wife Linda; along with several nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her and her legacy of caring will live on forever.
