Elwin Richard Baker, 74


Saugus — Mr. Elwin Richard Baker, 74 years, died on Saturday, January 26th surrounded by his family at his home in Saugus. He was the loving husband of Sylvia (Olson) Baker.

Born in Melrose and raised in Malden, he was the son of the late Elwynne and Shirley (Hobbs) Baker. He was a graduate of Malden High School and proprietor of the former Al Baker Auto Body shop on Commercial St. in Malden. He had been a resident of Saugus for the past 50 years. Mr. Baker was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and summered for many years at his home on Plum Island.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Baker leaves two sons, Richard A. Baker of Saugus, Douglas Baker and his wife Jennifer of Amesbury; two daughters, Kimberly Kane and her husband Thomas of Tewksbury, Kelley Baker of Saugus and her companion Larry Doak; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
