Kay L. (Ellison) Dionne


Hudson, N.H. — Kay L. (Ellison) Dionne, age 79, of Hudson, N.H., former longtime Newburyport resident, died Friday afternoon, February 8, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, N.H., surrounded by her family. Born in Newburyport, May 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Cogger) Ellison and had attended Newburyport schools.

Kay took great pride in being a homemaker, taking care of the needs of her family and making their home a welcomed placed for all to gather. There was always a place for that extra family member or friend that dropped in for a visit and stayed to share a home-cooked meal. She was loved by everyone for her tremendous kindness, caring and understanding. Some of Kay’s favorite pastimes included watching TV, reading, bowling and shopping. She was also a longtime supporter of the American Indian Reservations in the Dakotas.

Predeceased by her husband, Joseph L. Dionne, who passed away August 23, 2008 and her son, Joseph L. Dionne Jr., she is survived by her seven children, Deborah Olson and husband, Robert, of Hudson, N.H., with whom she made her residence over the past few years; Jeanette Olson and husband, Sterling, of Seabrook, N.H.; Thorne Dionne of Groveland, Dawn Crossland and husband, Roy, of Woodway, Texas; Michael Dionne and wife, Angela, of Amesbury; Linda Crossland and husband, Mark, of Seabrook, N.H.; and Jason Dionne of Newburyport; one sister, Judy Fogel; one brother, Leo Ellison; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several generations of nieces and nephews. She will be missed by them all.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, will be Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. immediately followed by services at the funeral home at noon and her reunion with her beloved husband, Joe, in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport.
