NEWBURYPORT — Georgia (Couris) Brusin, 87, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Salem in 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Angie (Pappas) Couris. She was a graduate of the Wilfred Academy School of Beauty in Boston and worked as a hairdresser before raising a large family with her late husband, Ellis Brusin, whom she married in 1945. She was a longtime resident of Newburyport and was fond of her Greek heritage, particularly the food and dancing. Her fun-loving spirit and quick wit was enjoyed by many.
Georgia is survived by one sister, Beatrice Saffer and her husband Harry of Salem; five children, Joan Brusin of Newburyport, Hilda Lilly of Newburyport, Carolyn Brusin of Amesbury, Thomas Brusin of Newburyport, and Lola Knight and her husband Donald of Newbury; 10 grandchildren, Justin Radulski, Kori Winter Clarke, Adelle Lilly, Alexandra Knight, Josiah Lilly, Derek Brusin, Dakota Knight, Harlan Knight, Jamal Lundy, and Haley Knight; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Anastasia Welch, and brothers, Nicholas, Daniel and Alex Couris.
