P. Michael Carney, 48, of North Andover, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. He was the loving husband of Kimberly (Powers) Carney, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on Feb. 20, 1963, he was the son of Rosemary (Oskar) Carney of Middleton and the late John F. Carney. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, class of 1981. Mike served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Gulf War. For the last four years, he has been employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Hampton, N.H.
An avid golfer, Mike was a Notre Dame and Boston sports fan. He was thrilled to recently win his 2011 Fantasy Football League. He enjoyed music and was a fan of Pearl Jam, the Grateful Dead and the Black Crowes. His curious nature gave him a true love of the universe; he was fascinated by the stars, nature and weather.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three children: Katelyn Carney of Haverhill and her fiance Christopher Derby; Kourtney Carney of North Andover and her boyfriend Daniel Murphy Jr.; and Patrick Carney of North Andover; five sisters, Maureen Cullen of Newburyport, Christine Fisler of Newbury, Rosemary Marella of Newburyport, Tara Runnals of Danvers and Kathleen Bartol of Newburyport; a brother, John Carney of Salisbury; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Powers of Middleton; and a loving extended family of many inlaws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at 9 a.m. in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in C.R.
