Seabrook, NH — Oliver L. Carter, Sr., 80, of Seabrook, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Oceanside Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hampton surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Seabrook, August 10, 1933, a son of the late Frank and Melissa (Dow) Carter.
Mr. Carter was a veteran serving aboard the USS Hollis APD 86 with the U.S. Navy.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and served as postmaster of the Seabrook Post Office. He retired in 1988 with 34 years of service. After his retirement he worked with his son at Carter’s Priority Printing until 1992.
He was a member of the Rand Memorial Church, member and past master in 1971 of St. James Lodge #102 F. & A.M. of Hampton, East Gate Club, Graham Page Club, Seabrook Fireman’s Association and a 59 year member of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post 70.
He shared 58 years of marriage with his wife, Caddie L. (Marshall) Carter.
In addition to his wife, family members include two sons, Oliver L. Carter, Jr. and his wife, Shelly, Forrest E. Carter and his wife, Joyce, all of Seabrook, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, his sister, Leona Papoulias of Salisbury, Mass., nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Irene Merrill, Carlene Perusse and Catherine Merchant.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton with a masonic service at 5:45 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Rand Memorial Church, 134 South Main Street, Seabrook. Burial will be in the Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook. The family suggests donations to the Rand Memorial Church at the above address.
