Truman "Berk" Souther, 80


Seabrook, NH — Truman Berkley “Berk” Souther, 80, of Seabrook, died on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Maplewood Care & Rehabilitation in Amesbury, Mass.

He was born in Seabrook on April 21, 1933, and was a son of the late Clarence R. and Hilda (Merrill) Souther.

Mr. Souther worked in the shellfish business all his life. He owned and operated the former Captain Berk’s on Route 286 for 25 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Seabrook Fireman’s Association.

Family members include two sons, Berkley R. Souther of Salisbury, Mass., and Terry Souther of Hampton; two daughters, Deborah Souther and Mary Souther, both of Salisbury, Mass.; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including Bonnie Fowler and her husband, Butch, of Seabrook, with whom he operated Captain Berk’s.

He was also predeceased by his brothers, Clarence R. Souther Jr. and Leo M. Souther; and his sister, Betty P. Garland.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Thursday, January 30, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will immediately follow at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
