Merrimac, MA — David E. Shelley, 51, of Merrimac, died on July 8 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, Mass., surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was the husband of Suzanne M. (Langlois) Shelley to whom he was married for 27 years on July 4.
Born in Amesbury on September 30, 1962, he was the son of the late Reverend Charles and Mildred (Downs) Shelley. He had been employed at A. W. Chesterton Co. Inc. in Groveland. He was the owner of Creative Waterscape, worked for Atwood TV in Merrimac for many years. and earlier in his life. worked at Coastal Metal in Merrimac. along with other various careers. A large part of his life was spent as a stay-at-home Dad and caretaker for his Mom and Dad. David was a dedicated drag racing fan and spent many years at New England Dragway in Epping, N.H., supporting motorcycle drag racers as pit crew and Top Bike Chef.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Marie S. Jones and husband, Robert, and Sarah M. Shelley and companion, Chris Dichard, all of Merrimac; two sisters, Barbara Lemieux and husband, Richard, of Concord, N.H., and Ruth Krapf and husband, Kenneth, of Ashby; foster brother, Edward Lehane and wife, Sandra, of Schertz, Texas; his mother-in-law, Barbara Langlois and companion, Jimmy Scannell of Merrimac; his brother-in-law, Paul Langlois and wife, Lisa, of Plaistow, N.H.;and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be Thursday, July 10, from 5 to 8 p.m.
His funeral service and burial in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover will be private.
