Newburyport, MA — Mary Jane Cutts, 83, longtime Newburyport resident, died peacefully Friday evening at Merrimack Valley Health Center, formerly Amesbury Village, in Amesbury.
Born in Newburyport on November 28, 1930, she was one of three children of the late Jack and Mary (Cosby) Cutts. She was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Mary worked as an assembler at CBS Hytron in Newburyport, then went to work at EPI, retiring with more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Although Mary never married and had no children, she was especially fond of her nieces and nephews and their families. She was the “mother hen,” who always watched out for everyone.
She was predeceased by her two brothers, Ernest Cutts, who died in 2001, and John Cutts, who died in 1988. She leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Barbara Cutts of Brighton and Ruth Cutts of Brockton; a nephew, John Cutts of Brockton; four nieces, Maria Cutts of Brockton, Pamela Cutts-Cheatum of Brighton, Debra Alleyne of Boston, and Valerie Alleyne Ingram of Boston; along with many grandnieces and grandnephews; a great-grandniece; as well as a host of relatives and friends in the Virginia area; and many dear friends in the Newburyport area. She will be truly missed by them all.
The family would like to thank the staff at Merrimack Valley Health Care and Brookhaven Hospice for their compassionate care.
ARRANGEMENTS: A period of visitation will be held Friday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, immediately followed by funeral services at the funeral home and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
