Newburyport, MA — Luceille “Midge” (Moore) Roaf, age 81, of Newburyport, died Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014 at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald R. “Bumpa” Roaf, who died March 7, 2007.
Born in Haverhill, Aug. 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Cliff and Martha R. (Ashton) Moore and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Midge, as she was known by many, was the manager at the Governors Academy bookstore in Byfield.
A longtime, active member of Central Congregational Church in Newburyport, she was involved with the knitting group of the church and was always crafting something to sell at the church fairs. Whereas she truly loved to knit, many family and friends were the recipients of exquisitely handcraft gifts that have been turned into family heirlooms. She also volunteered at the Anna Jaques Hospital gift shop.
Predeceased by her sister, Barbara Doucette, her surviving family members include five children, Debbi McCrevan of Exeter, N.H., Kristie Salmon of Newburyport, Mark Roaf and wife, Dierdre of Lebanon, Maine, Donnie R. Roaf, Jr. of West Barnstable, Mass. and Scott Roaf and wife, Andi of Seattle, Wash.; her nine grandchildren, and her 12 great-grandchildren, who filled her heart with much joy, and many dear friends. She will be missed by them all.
