Exeter, N.H. — Marilyn A. Chase, 85, died June 23, 2014, at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, N.H., after a period of declining health.
She was born April 26, 1929, in Newburyport, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Dorothy (Brown) McGlew.
Marilyn grew up in Newburyport, one of four children. She was a graduate of Newburyport High School. Marilyn was formerly employed at the Newburyport Five Cent Savings Bank, before becoming the longtime owner and operator of the Country Needle Craft in Newbury, Mass., from where she retired in 1985. Marilyn was a longtime resident of Newbury, and was also formerly of Exeter and Brentwood, N.H.
Her hobbies included knitting, rug hooking and crocheting. Marilyn was a dog lover and supporter of animal rights.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Allen Chase; and three siblings, Barbara Reardon, Robert McGlew and Patricia Simmons.
Marilyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Allen Chase and Bobbi-Jean Wall-Chase of Exeter; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Ronald Haney of Warren, Maine; four grandchildren, Bethany Gates, Brett Haney, Lindsay-Lee Chase, and Ethan Chase; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Rockingham County Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to Marilyn.
ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m., at Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport.
