Salisbury, MA — William Clayton Heywood Jr., 81, of Salisbury, died early Monday morning, July 14, 2014, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
Born in Newburyport on August 26, 1932, he was the son of the late William C. and Dora E. (Carey) Heywood. He was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Mr. Heywood was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army from December 3, 1952, until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1954, with the rank of Corporal.
Bill was a retired laborer and carpenter. He was a wonderful father, devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the love of his life.
Family members include two sons and three daughters, William C. Heywood III, Marie “Tina” Matvichuk and husband, Michael, Lisa and husband, Michael, Pamela, and Thomas Heywood and wife, Ellen; seven grandchildren, Kristen and Amanda Matvichuk, Brittani, Gemma, Dakota, Jillian, and Lauren; seven siblings, Shirley “Dolly” Mulberry, Gerry White, Brenda Pecoraro, Johnny Heywood, Susan Willard, Glenny Heywood, and Robert Heywood; along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by a sister and brother, Janet Fowler and Richard Heywood.
Throughout his life he has been a constant support to his family. The love he has given them will never die.
ARRANGEMENTS: A period of visitation for family and friends will be held THURSDAY, JULY 17, from 10 to 11:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service, at 12 p.m., at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, with burial in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook, N.H.
