Salisbury, MA — Donald Standley, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday at his home in Salisbury. He was born in Dade County, Fla., and was the son of the late Forrest and Clara (Pat) Standley.
Auto body repair was Don's trade, and for many years he worked for his friend, Jim Soffron, at Jim's Auto Body in Salisbury. Often he could be found at "The Clubhouse" in Amesbury with his friends. There he enjoyed baking treats, sometimes cooking holiday dinners, and was very much at home grilling mouth-watering meals on the barbeque. Over the years in good weather, Don, a.k.a. "Barn Owl," could be seen cruising through town on his Harley. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Don leaves his sons, Ern Standley and companion, Missy Warrington of Haverhill, Mass., Don Standley Jr. and wife, Mia of Kingston, N.H., Matt Standley and wife, Corrine of Dania Beach, Fla., and Caleb Standley and companion, Pearl Labrie of Concord, N.H.; his granddaughters, Tanya and Briana; his sisters, Linda Martin of North Conway, N.H., and Lois Whitney of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; his friend, Jamie; and his former wife, Barb, and family.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private services are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury. Those who wish, may make a donation in his name to your local SPCA.
