Beverly — Hanna Brown of Pinewood Avenue in Beverly, died on Tuesday morning, January 28, from complications following a car accident, surrounded by her family. Born January 13, 1935, to Margaret (Murphy) and Dennis McAuliffe, she was raised in Taur, County Cork, Ireland. At age 15, she came to the United States as a nanny, working in Beverly Farms. It was there that she and John Brown met and fell in love. They were married in 1955. John, for many years a well-known contractor and then Asst. Building Inspector for the City, died suddenly in 1988.
Hanna and John are survived by their five children and their partners, John F. Brown Jr, and his wife, Kathy (O'Keefe) Brown, from Rowley, MA; David M. Brown and his companion, Allyson Hill, from Norway, Maine; Paul E. Brown and his wife, Josephine (Murphy) Brown, from No. Conway, NH; Kathy (Brown) Delaney and husband, James "Tony" Delaney, from Rowley, MA; and Marianne (Brown) Hall and husband, Curtis Allen Hall, with whom Hanna lived for the past 20 years.
Known lovingly as “Muggy” to her grandchildren, she is also survived by Jaclyn (Brown) Powers and her husband, James Powers, of Londonderry, NH; Sarah Delaney and her fiancé, Norman Jutras, of Rowely, MA; Jacob John Hall, USAF Fussa, Tokyo, Japan; Emily Brown and John Brown of N. Conway, NH; Jennifer Delaney and Clare Delaney of Rowley, MA; and her youngest granddaughter, with whom she shared most every day, Jessica Hall of Beverly.
Hanna is also survived by her sister, Margaret "Ciss" (McAuliffe) Guiney of Rock Chapel, Co. Cork, Ireland; brothers, James "Jimmy" McAuliffe of Milton, MA, and Jeremiah "Darby" McAuliffe of Thurles, Co. Cork, Ireland; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Brown) O'Leary of Amesbury, MA; brothers-in-law, Joseph Brown of Beverly, MA, and Robert Brown and his wife, Kathy, of Ipswich; and many beloved nieces and nephews in both the United States and Ireland, which Hanna frequently visited. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
