NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Paul Joseph Thompson, 53, of Newbury, died unexpectedly at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, while on vacation with his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Noyes Thompson of Newbury.
Born in Portsmouth, N.H., July 1, 1957, son of Barbara (Jackson) Thompson of Dover, N.H. and formerly of Portsmouth, and the late Milledge Thompson, Paul was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover.
Paul, in partnership with his brother, Daniel, ran Town & Country Services, Inc. of Greenland, N.H, a cleaning and restoration business they started in 1977.
He was President of the NEIRC and Connections, and was also a member of LMCCA, IICRC, Piranha Marketing, the Newburyport Boat Club and the Neptune Veterans Firemen Association. Paul also received the Kenway Meade Leadership Award from Connections and the President's Award from LMCCA.
Actively involved in numerous business associations, Paul was always on the go. As active as he was, there was always time for family gatherings, fishing and boating, and vacations. A fan of country music, he and his wife enjoyed several great trips to Nashville.
In addition to his mother, Barbara and his wife of nine years, Ginny, he leaves behind two children, James Blake Thompson and Lyndsay M. Thompson both of Portsmouth; two brothers and two sisters, William Thompson and wife Charlotte of Dallas, Joan Horton of Missouri; Ann Stanwood of Dover, and Daniel Thompson and wife Diane of Portsmouth; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, James A. Noyes and wife Donna, Sue N. Oliveira; and Douglas A. Noyes and wife Susan, all of Newbury; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and many business associates throughout the country.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport will be Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. A memorial service in celebration of his life, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
