Amesbury, MA — Mary J. (Liberty) Levesque, 67, of Amesbury, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014, at Maplewood Healthcare in Amesbury, after bravely fighting a battle with cancer.
The youngest of nine children of the late Joseph Laliberte and Alberta (Ealy) Laliberte, she was born in Newburyport on January 19, 1947.
While she aspired to being a seamstress and/or writer in her younger years, she instead became a full-time mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her enthusiasm for this role earned her the beloved nickname "Mimi" among her family and friends. A quiet and religious woman who enjoyed music and dancing, her generosity often outweighed her own needs, and she approached obstacles in her life with great faith and much humor.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Wilfred D. Levesque of Amesbury and their three children, Richard L. Levesque of Indianapolis, Ind., Lynn A. Levesque and Jessica M. Levesque of Amesbury; her grandchildren, Kyle Locke, Tyler Locke, Hannah Locke, Ethan Levesque, and Lyric Welch of Amesbury; her great-grandchildren, Jayden Locke and Matthew Evans of Amesbury; her sisters, Helen Dore and Roseanna Stickney of Newburyport; and her brother, William Laliberte of Newburyport.
ARRANGEMENTS: In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish Church, 9 Sparhawk St., Amesbury, at 9 a.m., on Friday, February 7. Burial will be private for family only. Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
