Dale enjoyed traveling especially their annual trip to Aruba. He also enjoyed a special trip to London and the place of his birth, to celebrate his 60th birthday with English friends. Dale spent many years doing genealogy and traced branches of his family back through the 1600s in England. He found that some of his family came to America with William Penn and settled in what is now Pennsylvania. He was also an avid gardener and created a beautiful hosta garden, collecting many different varieties over the last few years. Dale was a former member of the Amesbury Conservation Commission and the Town Democratic Committee. He was also a member of the Board of Directors and past President of his Condominium Association. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. He volunteered for many years at the Shriners Hospital in Boston.

He also leaves many dear nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He also leaves aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his 2 half brothers, Brian Handyside and Colin Handyside; and by his dear brother-in-law, Raymond Michael Lavoie. He leaves dear friends, James and Leslie Withall of Waban, Mass., and Robert and Suzanne McCrady of Ohio. He leaves many wonderful friends and neighbors in the Cricket Hill Community.
