Philip Britton, 44

Newburyport, Ma — Philip Britton, 44, died Saturday at Beth Israel Hospital, after a long battle against an insidious disease. He is survived by his brother, Jesse, his mother, Pam, and his father, Bob. PJ, as he was known to his family and friends, had lived in the area since 1974. He graduated from Triton and briefly attended Merrimack College. He spent his adult life in the construction business.

He was easily recognized about town, driving his old motorcycle with a ridiculously small helmet, and blond tresses trailing in the breeze.

He was a free spirit and will be sorely missed by all who loved him. A small light has gone out with his passing.
