M. Elisabeth Boucher, 88


AMESBURY — M. Elisabeth "Betty" (Dumont) Boucher, 88, of Merrimac, Northwood, N.H. and most recently of Hampstead, N.H., died early Wednesday morning, June 2, 2010 at Amesbury Village Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Fernand E. Boucher, who died Oct. 31, 1986.

Born in Haverhill, June 4, 1921, daughter of the late Emile F. and Helen (Huard) Dumont, she was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Class of 1938.

Mrs. Boucher had worked as secretary at the Henschel Corporation in Amesbury. During the 20 years she lived in Northwood, N.H., she worked at Christian Mutual Life in Concord, N.H. and during that time was a member of the Epsom Baptist Church. Several years after the death of her husband, she moved Hampstead, N.H., where she became a member of Island Pond Baptist Church and was active with the Women's Ministries.

She enjoyed quilting, rug hooking and braiding, creating beautiful treasures that she shared with family and friends.

Her survivors include two sons and a daughter and their spouses, Richard L. and Beatrice Boucher of Georgetown, Daniel V. and Cathie Boucher of Newbury, and Dianne M. and Michael Tang of Dracut; nine grandchildren, Peter and Michael Boucher; Suzanne (Boucher) Downs; Maxwell and Asher Boucher; and Michael, Josh, Benjamin and Daniel Tang; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene J. Huntress of Atkinson, N.H.; a brother, Lucien E. Dumont and wife Phyllis of Harwich; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury, will be Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 9 to 11 a.m. immediately followed by services at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Northwood, N.H. Donations in her memory may be made to the Missions Committee of Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., Amesbury, MA 01913.
