Exeter, N.H. — Lucile “Sue” (Covey) Patten, age 87 of Riverwoods of Exeter, former longtime resident of Seabrook Beach, N.H. died peacefully Thursday, November 22,2012 at Exeter Hospital.
Born in Laconia, N.H., January 5,1925 was the daughter of the late Lucius and Ruby Covey. She was one of six girls and was a graduate of Laconia High School Class of 1943.
She was a previous member of the Order of Eastern Star, YWCA of Newburport and the West Newbury Congregational Church.
Mrs. Patten is predeceased by her loving husband, James F. Patten Jr. Together they owned the H. W. Pray Company of Newburyport for many years. She is survived by her three loving children, James F. Patten III and wife, Jilda of Seabrook N.H., John C. Patten and wife, Paulette of Boxford, and Jayne P. Welcome and her husband, Dennis of Amesbury,; six grandchildren and their families including ten great-grandchildren; her sister Eva Marie Olsen of Meredith, N.H. along with several generations of nephews, nieces and many dear friends. Her joy in life came from spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling and music.
ARRANGEMENTS: By request of the family, there will be no visiting hours and funeral services and interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport will be private for the family.
