Attleboro — Elaine A. Basque, 64, of Claire Drive passed away Friday morning, October 12, 2012 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston where she has been ill since July. She was the beloved wife of James “Jimmy” Basque for over 31 years.
Born February 18, 1948 in Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Lucille (Boisvert) Lafleche.
Elaine grew up in North Attleboro and was a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and a 1965 graduate of North Attleboro High School. She also attended the former Chandler Business School in Boston for two years and has been a resident of Attleboro for over thirty years.
Elaine worked as an assistant buyer and administrative assistant at Englehard in Plainville which became Wolverine Joining Technology in Warwick, where she celebrated 46 years with the company in June.
She was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church in North Attleboro and later a devoted communicant of St. Mark’s Parish in Attleboro Falls where she spent many years working the hamburger and hot dog booth at the church fair with her husband. She enjoyed line dancing and met Jimmy in a class where he was the instructor. She was also a longstanding volunteer at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro and she was a member of their 30 Week Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother- and father-in-law, Alex and Jean Basque of Merrimac; her brother, Brother Ronald Lafleche, MS of Somerville; her godmother and aunt Claire Prefontaine of North Attleboro, godson James Thomson IV of Coventry, R.I. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, October 16 in St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
