Byfield — Paul O. “Bart” Rogers, 82, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Rogers was the husband of Betty M. (Lee) Rogers.
Born in Byfield on July 18, 1930, Bart was the son of the late George A. and Elizabeth (Tracy) Rogers. He was a lifelong Byfield resident. Bart had a distinguished career as a finish carpenter that spanned 60 years as a union carpenter. He was very happy in his work and enjoyed singing.
Bart enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends. Over the years, Bart participated in harness racing and owned, trained and raced many horses.
Besides his wife of 54 years, Bart is survived by his sisters-in-law, Norma Johnson of Georgetown and Eleanor Rogers of Byfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late, George, Walter, John, James and Thomas Rogers, Mary Stevens, Theresa Searle and Eleanor Pepin.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held on Friday at 12 p.m. at the F.S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent St., Rowley. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment to follow at the South Byfield Cemetery in Georgetown.
