Ronald M. Filmore, 97, of Byfield, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Kindred Country Manor in Newburyport. He was the husband of Catherine (Ivone) Filmore and the late Eleanor (Dole) Filmore.
Born in Watertown on November 11, 1914, he was the son of the late Henry M. and Sophia (Koch) Filmore. He was the owner of Filmore Machine Shop.
His passion was building boats and sailing and he was extremely proud of building his own cottage on Plum Island.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and four daughters, Jeff Filmore and wife Leslie of Beverly, Craig Filmore and wife Lauren of Newbury, Joe Higgins and wife Maureen of Merrimac, Kathleen Higgins, Carol Janvrin and husband Bob, Susan Mitchell and husband David, all of New Hampshire, Charlene Foley and husband David of Byfield, twelve grandchildren, Ben Filmore and wife Renee, Kerrie Sesto and husband Damon, Mollie Lappin and husband Steve, Robbie and Jaime Janvrin, Danny, Sally, John and Melissa Mitchell, Jennifer and Ashley Foley and Pat Higgins; also many great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister Gloria and a brother Marshall.
A special thanks to all the staff and caregivers at Kindred Country Manor for the wonderful and courteous care they provided Ron.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be Wednesday, Feb. 8th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport (www.paulcrogers.com). Funeral service from the funeral home will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Newbury.
