Arthur Howard Deuplisea, Sr., age 85, longtime resident of Merrimac, died Friday evening, February 3, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Evelyn E. (Brown) Deuplisea.
Born in Lowell, February 11, 1926, son of the late John and Alice (Hobbs) Deuplisea, he was a graduate of Lowell High School and the Boston Business Institute.
Mr. Deuplisea was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy from June 23, 1944 until his honorable discharge on June 27, 1946, and had served aboard a PT boat in the South Pacific.
Mr. Deuplisea’s early career was spent managing a lumber business in Merrimac, Amesbury and Newburyport. He spent his later years as a project manager, building both residential and commercial developments in greater Boston. Mr. Deuplisea was also a former Tax Assessor and Building Inspector for the Town of Merrimac.
Although he enjoyed his profession, his family was his first priority; they brought him so much joy. He loved traveling, spending time in the Caribbean and summering in Maine.
In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn, he leaves behind three sons, Arthur H. Deuplisea, Jr. and wife Daphne; Alan Deuplisea; and Jon Deuplisea and companion Becky, all of Merrimac; two daughters, Deborah Field and husband Norman of Chester, NH and Dyan Reinhold and husband John of Merrimac; eight grandchildren, Adam, Renee, Jocelyn, Jon, Brittany, Bronwyn, Lillian and John; one great-grandson, Henry, and many dear friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service for family and friends will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3 P.M. at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac. Interment will be private. The family kindly asks that flowers be omitted; instead, donations in his memory may be made to the Merrimac Senior Center, 100 East Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
