Joseph G. Doucet, 83


Amesbury — Joseph Doucet, 83, husband of Rena (Blanchette) Doucet, passed away Wednesday at Fairhaven Healthcare in Lowell. He was born in Amesbury and was the son of the late Cesaire and Rena (Guignard) Doucet.

He attended Amesbury schools and went on to serve in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He traveled all over the world as an industrial inspector including a six-month stay in Africa. He had belonged to the VFW and once served as scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts Troop 7.

Besides his wife, Rena of many years, he is survived by his sons, Thomas Doucet of Bakersfield, Calif., Alan Doucet of Brownfield, Maine, and James Doucet of Pepperell; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was grandfather of the late Drew Doucet.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 8 at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church 2 School St. in Amesbury. Burial will follow at a later time. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend St. in Amesbury are Monday January 7 from 5-7 p.m.
